A Different Kind of Corporate Team-Building Activity
Published by Can U Dig It RC
A lot of corporate team-building activities have the same problem: everyone knows they’re doing a team-building activity.
That can make the whole thing feel a little forced.
The Task Creates the Teamwork
RC construction gives the group something real to figure out together. Move material across the pit. Load a dump truck. Coordinate several machines working in the same space.
Nobody has to be told to “work as a team.” The activity creates that naturally.
Communication Happens on Its Own
The excavator operator needs the truck in the right place. The loader may need room to get through. Someone has to decide who is doing what and when.
The communication comes from solving the problem, not from an icebreaker or worksheet.
Everyone Starts on Equal Ground
One of the best parts is that job titles don’t matter much once the controls are in your hands.
For the first few minutes, everybody is figuring it out together. That usually means a few mistakes, a lot of laughing, and a much more relaxed way for coworkers to interact.
It’s Still Supposed to Be Fun
Team building does not have to feel like training.
Sometimes the biggest benefit is simply getting people out of their normal environment, giving them something different to do, and letting them enjoy each other’s company while working toward a shared goal.
