Why We Started Can U Dig It RC as a Mobile Business
Published by Can U Dig It RC
When we first started Can U Dig It RC, we did not begin by signing a lease and hoping people would show up. We started mobile.
That decision shaped almost everything that came after it.
The Mobile Trailer Was Our Test Lab
A mobile setup gave us a way to take the idea directly to families at fairs, festivals, private events and community gatherings. Every event put the concept in front of real people and immediately answered questions that a business plan could not.
Which machines attracted the most attention? How quickly would beginners learn the controls? How many batteries would we really need? Which parts would fail under constant public use? We learned those answers by operating.
Starting Lean Made the Business Smarter
A storefront creates fixed expenses immediately. Starting mobile allowed us to prove that people were interested in the experience before building a permanent destination around it.
It also forced us to make the attraction portable, durable and understandable. Terrain had to survive transportation. Equipment had to be organized. Setup and teardown had to be repeatable.
The Mobile Model Never Went Away
Opening the Erlanger store did not replace the trailer. It gave the business a second way to reach people. The store provides a permanent indoor destination while the mobile setup can still travel to fairs, schools, churches, corporate events and community programs.
